Listened to AI and Refused to Pay the Fine: Court Punished the Driver with a Fine Eight Times Higher
In Poland, a 30-year-old driver refused to pay a speeding fine after advice from artificial intelligence. As a result, the case was referred to court, which found the man guilty and imposed a fine eight times higher than the original amount.
The driver was stopped for speeding
As reported by RMF24, a few weeks ago on Korfantego Street in Zabrze, Poland, a police radar recorded an Opel vehicle whose driver exceeded the speed limit by 14 km/h.
According to current regulations, such a violation carries a fine of 100 zlotys.
The man refused to pay the fine based on AI advice
When road police officers offered the 30-year-old driver to pay the fine on the spot, he categorically refused.
During the check of documents and data in police databases, the man explained that he used a popular artificial intelligence tool, which advised him not to agree to the fine on the spot. This was reported by the Zabrze City Police Department.
The case was referred to court
After the driver’s refusal, law enforcement officers compiled the materials and sent the case to court.
After reviewing the evidence, the court found the man guilty of the offense.
As a result, the driver will have to pay a fine eight times higher than the amount provided for this violation when issued on the spot.
The police warned drivers
The police reminded that refusal to pay a fine does not exempt a person from responsibility but only transfers the case to court, which may impose a much harsher penalty.
Law enforcement also urged drivers to use common sense and rely on verified sources of legal information rather than on advice generated by artificial intelligence, which may be inaccurate or unverified.
