In the Polish city of Żyrardów, law enforcement officers detained a 42-year-old man suspected of stealing 1800 rolls of toilet paper. According to the police, he faces up to five years of imprisonment.

Authorities report that 36 packs of toilet paper disappeared from a pallet placed near one of the city's stores. In total, the packs contained about 1.8 thousand rolls.

The value of the stolen goods was estimated at 1070 Polish zlotys (about 13 thousand hryvnias).

After receiving a report of the theft, the police seized surveillance camera footage and began searching for the suspect. According to law enforcement, the video analysis and data collected during the investigation pointed to the possible involvement of a 42-year-old resident of Żyrardów.

The same day, the man was detained on one of the city streets. During the arrest, the stolen goods were found on him and confiscated as evidence.

The police ironically commented on the incident by asking in their statement: "Stomach problems or just a regular theft?"

The detainee has already been charged with theft. Polish law provides for a punishment of up to five years in prison for such a crime.

Authorities have not yet disclosed the motives behind the man's actions or whether other persons might be involved in the case.
