Indian pharmaceutical companies were offered to open production of pharmaceutical ingredients in Ukraine
The Committee of the Verkhovna Rada on National Health, Medical Care, and Medical Insurance held a working meeting with representatives of the Association of Indian Pharmaceutical Manufacturers, which includes foreign and Ukrainian companies, as well as representatives of the Embassy of India.
As noted by the committee, ongoing dialogue with relevant associations, manufacturers, and the business community is important for forming transparent rules for operating in the pharmaceutical market.
The meeting was organized at the initiative of the manufacturers' association itself. Its participants discussed current issues faced by international companies operating in Ukraine, particularly legislative aspects of industry regulation. Previously, representatives of the association had already held negotiations with the relevant minister, and further meetings with the leadership of the State Service of Ukraine on Medicines and Drugs Control and the State Expert Center are planned.
During the discussion, the parties paid attention to issues of transparency in pharmaceutical market regulation and further harmonization of Ukrainian legislation with European approaches. The committee reminded that the new law on medicines is to fully come into effect on January 1, 2027, together with the launch of the Ukrainian Pharmaceutical Agency.
A separate topic was the localization of pharmaceutical production in Ukraine. The committee emphasized that the development of domestic production capacities is important for strengthening the state's pharmaceutical security.
In particular, foreign manufacturers were offered to consider the possibility of opening production of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) in Ukraine, including on the basis of industrial parks. According to the meeting participants, such projects will contribute to creating new jobs, attracting investments, and supporting the economy during the war.
