Culture workers may get salary increases in 2027: what is known
Deputy Prime Minister for Humanitarian Policy and Minister of Culture Tetyana Berezhna stated that the government is considering the possibility of raising salaries for cultural sector workers during the formation of the state budget for 2027.
According to her, the preparation of the budget declaration is currently underway, within which substantive consultations are being held regarding increasing wages in the cultural sector. She emphasized that the development of the cultural sphere directly depends on the specialists working in it, so the issue of their financial support remains one of the priorities.
"I do not want to announce this yet, but we are having very substantive negotiations about increasing salaries in the cultural sector because culture relies on people," Berezhna said during a public interview at the "Book Arsenal" event.
Berezhna also noted that salary increases could become an additional incentive for Ukrainians to return from abroad after forced emigration, as well as help attract specialists to the cultural sector who have moved to other fields due to low incomes.
Separately, she reported that the Ministry of Culture plans to seek increased funding for the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation next year. At the same time, the official reminded that in 2026 the foundation's funding was already increased by UAH 128 million compared to the previous year.
