The state supports employers, self-employed individuals, and sole proprietors with disabilities, including veterans who return to civilian life after injuries. As explained by the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, one of the tools of this policy is the compensation of expenses for arranging workplaces. It aims to promote the employment of people with disabilities and support employers in creating inclusive working conditions.

In Ukraine, such compensation is provided for employers who employ persons with disabilities, as well as for self-employed individuals and sole proprietors who have disabilities.

An application can be submitted online through the "Diia" portal or in person at the employment center at the place of business activity. Funds are transferred after the decision on the application is made. The application must be submitted within 180 days after the employment of a person with a disability or the resumption of their activity after military service. The application review takes up to 13 working days, and the service is free of charge.

The amount of compensation depends on the disability group: for persons with a disability of group I – up to 15 minimum wages (as of January 1, 2026 – 129,705 hryvnias), for persons with a disability of group II – up to 10 minimum wages (86,470 hryvnias).

The compensation covers actual expenses for purchasing equipment to arrange the workplace. Such expenses include furniture, lighting, office equipment, tools, means of transportation, software, communication equipment, as well as solutions for safety and health support.

The payment is provided as a one-time payment for a specific workplace. In case of changing the workplace, repeated compensation is not provided. At the same time, self-employed individuals and sole proprietors with disabilities can receive reimbursement for arranging their own workplace.

The Ministry of Justice notes that this mechanism is a tool of state barrier-free policy. It promotes the integration of people with disabilities into economic life, the restoration of professional activity, the initiation and development of their own business. For businesses, it is an opportunity to create inclusive workspaces without excessive financial burden, which contributes to forming a more accessible and equal society.
