The metro explained why additional benches are not installed at stations in Kyiv
Kyiv Metro stated that installing additional benches on station platforms is impossible due to fire safety and passenger evacuation requirements.
As noted by the publication "Khmarochos," in 2022 Kyiv residents supported a petition demanding an increase in the number of seats at stations. However, implementing such a proposal is not feasible.
Kyiv Metro explained that the benches currently at the stations were designed according to building norms to avoid obstructing passenger movement during evacuation. Installing additional benches would reduce the space in the central halls and platforms.
At the same time, the metro reminded that during air raid alerts, passengers can use portable seats provided by volunteers for sheltering residents. These can be obtained from station attendants.
Also, a petition was registered in Kyiv demanding to restrict the use of large sleeping items in the metro due to lack of space for other people.
