The parliamentary committee on energy and housing and communal services explained how the electricity market for households with solar panels will change after the transition to the European model.

In particular, they remind that the current "green tariff" for households will cease to operate from January 1, 2030.

After the launch of the new market model, owners of home solar power plants will be able to sell excess electricity, including to the European market. At the same time, the Verkhovna Rada Committee expects that most likely this will not be done by the owners themselves, but by more professional market participants.

The committee explains that the future model envisions the development of so-called aggregators — companies that will collect excess electricity from various producers, form large volumes, and sell them for export or on the domestic market.

For example, if you grow 2 kg of strawberries, you will most likely just eat them. Theoretically, you could go to the nearest grocery market and sell them, but would you take those 2 kg to sell in Poland?

But if you grow potatoes on 2 hectares and harvest several tons of crops, you can sell them to a buyer who arrives with a large truck, buys potatoes from you and your neighbors, forms the required volume, and ships the product for export to Poland.

The Verkhovna Rada Committee noted that there are quite a lot of home solar power plants in Ukraine with installed solar stations up to 30 kW. As of 2026, approximately 60 or even 70 thousand households have installed solar panels on their homes and registered for the "green tariff".
