Ukraine and the USA Coordinated Actions Against International Cybercriminals — Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko
A meeting took place at the Office of the Prosecutor General with representatives of the Cyber Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) of the USA and the US Embassy in Ukraine.
The negotiations involved representatives of the leadership of the FBI cyber units, as well as the legal attaché and his deputy from the US Embassy in Ukraine.
The key topic of the meeting was countering cybercrimes that have a cross-border nature and require coordinated actions between states.
As Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko reported, during the meeting the American side expressed gratitude for cooperation and partnership, noting the effectiveness of interaction between institutions.
Special recognition was given to Ukraine's promptness in fulfilling requests for international legal assistance. These concern cases related to ransomware programs, cyberattacks on infrastructure, and illegal acquisition of personal data.
The parties also focused on forming an evidentiary base regarding the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine. It was emphasized that a significant amount of evidence has already been collected, but its further expansion remains a priority. In this context, support from American partners, particularly in the field of technical analysis of digital data, can significantly enhance Ukraine's capabilities. The USA has unique expertise and technical capabilities in digital forensics.
A separate block of discussion concerned issues of international search and extradition of persons hiding from justice. The parties confirmed their intention to continue joint work to bring criminals to justice regardless of their location.
Following the meeting, emphasis was placed on further deepening cooperation between Ukraine and the USA in the field of justice, including through joint operations, information exchange, and coordination of actions.
During the event, Ukrainian prosecutors were also awarded departmental honors by the FBI.
