120 Arctic Fox Pelts Worth 400 Thousand Hryvnias Attempted to Be Smuggled from Poland to Ukraine
At the "Hrushiv" checkpoint in Lviv region, border guards of the 7th Carpathian Border Detachment together with customs officers stopped an attempt to illegally import a batch of elite fur into Ukraine. This was reported by the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
Thanks to information previously received from operational officers of the SBGS, law enforcement paid attention to a scheduled bus traveling the route "Warsaw — Ivano-Frankivsk."
During a thorough inspection of the luggage compartment, a hidden cargo was found among the passengers' personal belongings — 120 arctic fox pelts.
According to the 65-year-old bus driver, he received the fur in Poland as a regular parcel and was supposed to deliver it in Ivano-Frankivsk.
The undeclared goods, with a market value of nearly 400 thousand hryvnias, were seized and transferred to the customs warehouse.
Legal measures will be taken against the driver for violating customs regulations.
