Explosion at postal terminal in Kyiv – sender of package with ammunition detained
Law enforcement officers detained a man who was sending ammunition by mail. This was reported by the Kyiv police.
Law enforcement reminded that as a result of the incident, a 59-year-old employee of one of the logistics company branches in the Obolonskyi district died, and two other men aged 37 and 41 were injured.
During the inspection of the scene, explosive technicians of the Kyiv police found remnants of shells. Later, law enforcement identified the sender of the package.
"He turned out to be a 35-year-old resident of Zaporizhzhia region. In cooperation with the Zaporizhzhia police, the offender was detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine," the police stated.
It was preliminarily established that the offender sent ammunition to his friend in the capital. The purpose of their storage and origin are currently being determined.
SBU officers, under the procedural guidance of the prosecutor's office, announced suspicion to the man and he has currently been placed under arrest.
