The State Tax Service agreed with Lithuania and Latvia on the exchange of tax information and the implementation of EU standards
The State Tax Service of Ukraine signed memorandums of cooperation with the tax administrations of Lithuania and Latvia, expanding interaction with European Union countries.
The documents were signed by the Acting Head of the STS, Lesya Karnaukh, the Director General of the State Tax Inspectorate of Lithuania, Edita Janušene, and the Director General of the State Revenue Service of Latvia, Baiba Šmite-Roke, during a meeting of the heads of tax and customs administrations of the Baltic countries.
As noted by the STS, cooperation with Lithuania and Latvia has a long history, and the new memorandums are intended to deepen interaction in the field of tax administration and the implementation of European practices.
The parties agreed to cooperate on adapting tax legislation to EU standards, exchanging tax information, combating the shadow economy, developing modern services for taxpayers, as well as organizing professional training programs and improving the qualifications of tax authority employees.
Special attention is planned to be given to exchanging experience on reducing tax losses, in particular reducing the value-added tax gap.
During the meeting, participants also discussed current challenges for tax and customs administrations in Europe, including the digitalization of public services, combating the shadow economy, budgetary and organizational changes, as well as the impact of the geopolitical situation on tax administration and customs procedures.
According to Lesya Karnaukh, the Ukrainian tax service continues to provide services to taxpayers and fulfill budgetary tasks even under conditions of full-scale war, applying solutions that allow maintaining efficiency and resilience of operations.
