The Verkhovna Rada Committee on Social Policy and Veterans' Rights Protection has published a list of key expectations from the upcoming pension reform, the draft of which is currently being prepared by the government.

As noted by the committee after discussing the reform with government representatives, one of the main tasks should be to increase the wage replacement ratio by pension. Deputies believe that this indicator should be brought to at least 40%, and in the future — to 60%, as well as to define a clear plan to achieve this goal.

Among other priorities is the regulation of pension provision for mobilized servicemen. The committee points out that currently only career military personnel have the right to a pension for years of service, while the current system essentially preserves approaches inherited from Soviet times.

Deputies also expect the unification of the retirement age for all citizens. It is proposed to maintain the current retirement model at 60, 63, or 65 years depending on the length of insurance experience.

In addition, among the expected changes is the introduction of a funded system for professional pensions, which complies with the requirements of European Union directives. It is also proposed to gradually introduce a funded pension component for employees whose salaries are increased, with the corresponding funds placed in the Treasury.

As reported by the "Judicial and Legal Newspaper," the Cabinet of Ministers is to present the concept of the future pension reform at the Coalition Council on June 8.

Earlier, the Ministry of Social Policy, Family and Unity of Ukraine announced work on pension reform, which envisages a transition from special pensions to professional ones.

According to the Minister of Social Policy, Family and Unity, Denys Ulyutin, a professional pension will allow accumulation formation already after the first year of professional contributions and retain them even if changing the field of activity.
