Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation have completed the pre-trial investigation regarding a serviceman from the Sumy region, who is accused of illegal sale of weapons and ammunition. The indictment has been sent to court.

As reported by the SBI, during combat missions in the territory of Kursk region of the Russian Federation in 2025, the serviceman discovered two foreign-made assault rifles, 152 rounds, four grenades with fuses, and a grenade launcher at abandoned positions of Russian troops.

According to the investigation, instead of handing over the found weapons in the prescribed manner, the serviceman transported them to the location of his unit and began looking for buyers.

Later, in the city of Krolevets, he sold one assault rifle for 2,000 US dollars. After that, the man agreed with the same buyer to sell the remaining weapons and ammunition.

SBI officers detained the serviceman while receiving money during the final deal. The man had money, weapons, and ammunition seized.

The serviceman is charged with illegal possession and sale of firearms, ammunition, and explosives without the legally required permit (Part 1, Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
