A separate state holiday is proposed for military spouses: which date was chosen
While Ukrainian servicemen defend the country on the front line, their husbands and wives daily hold another, no less important front — raising children, managing the household, supporting relatives, and helping defenders overcome the difficulties of service. That is why it is proposed in Ukraine to honor the spouses of servicemen at the state level, who often remain outside public attention but play an important role in strengthening military families and supporting the country's defense capability.
A petition was submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers calling to establish in Ukraine the holiday "Military Spouse Appreciation Day" and to celebrate it annually on October 25.
The author of the initiative notes that in the United States there is Military Spouse Appreciation Day — a day to honor military spouses. On this day, the so-called "silent heroes" who provide a reliable rear for the military are honored.
According to the initiator, wives and husbands of servicemen deserve special respect and public recognition, as they often take on additional responsibilities during the service of their loved ones.
The author of the appeal emphasizes that in the conditions of a full-scale war, the issue of supporting military families has become especially relevant, so it makes sense to establish a similar holiday in Ukraine.
Petition No. 41/010078-26ep was registered on June 9, 2026. To consider it, 25,000 signatures must be collected. Currently, 92 days remain until the end of the signature collection.
