Can the police be involved in the functions of the TRC: what the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine think about it
The Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Andriy Hnatov stated in a media comment that all bodies involved in the mobilization process act within clearly defined legal powers.
According to him, the TRC are responsible for maintaining military records, organizing notification, and conducting the conscription of those liable for military service, while the National Police perform other tasks, including coercive measures against persons who evade mobilization duties or do not appear upon summons.
Therefore, Hnatov questioned the advisability of transferring these functions to the police. He emphasized that each body performs exactly those tasks defined by the legislation of Ukraine.
