In Kyiv, the number of areas with limited mowing regime sharply increased in a year: what this will bring
The number of areas with a natural grass maintenance regime is increasing in Kyiv. This was reported by the Kyiv City State Administration.
“In the capital, nature-oriented approaches to the care of green zones continue to be applied. Municipal enterprises responsible for maintaining green spaces combine traditional care with modern ecological practices. This helps maintain comfort for residents, a neat appearance of the city, and preserve biodiversity,” the agency stated.
The Kyiv City State Administration emphasizes that this is part of Kyiv’s strategy to adapt to climate change and increase the resilience of the urban environment.
The number of areas with a limited mowing regime continues to grow in Kyiv. If in 2025 there were 91 such locations, now there are already 119.
Such areas:
- contribute to the preservation of biodiversity;
- support populations of pollinating insects;
- retain moisture in the soil;
- reduce overheating of urban surfaces during hot periods;
- increase the resilience of green zones to climate changes;
- help reduce dust levels and improve the microclimate.
At the same time, the Department of Environmental Protection and Climate Change Adaptation of the Kyiv City State Administration emphasizes that this does not mean abandoning mowing. Specialists individually determine areas with a limited mowing regime, taking into account safety, the purpose of the space, and the needs of residents.
