Ukraine imposed sanctions against the judge in the Viktoriya Roshchyna case: judges and media included in the list
Ukraine has applied sanctions against Russian propaganda media and judges who made illegal decisions regarding Ukrainian journalists, activists, and politicians.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a decree implementing the decision of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine on applying sanctions against Russian propaganda media and judges who made illegal decisions against Ukrainians.
The sanctions package included 29 individuals and 17 legal entities.
Among them are judges involved in the criminal prosecution of Ukrainians on the territory of Russia and the temporarily occupied Crimean Peninsula, as well as in the in absentia sentencing of Ukrainian activists, journalists, and politicians.
In particular, as reported by the President's Office, this includes Moscow judge Timur Vakhrameyev, who systematically makes politically motivated decisions against civilian Ukrainians and fighters of volunteer units.
"He contributed to the complete isolation of illegally detained Ukrainian journalists and is involved in the imprisonment of Viktoriya Roshchyna, who was tortured in Russian captivity. Her death became known on October 10, 2024, when she was already on the exchange lists. Russia returned Viktoriya Roshchyna's body with numerous signs of torture to Ukraine only in February 2025," the President's Office stated.
The package also includes Russian propaganda media and their leaders. These are "Gazeta.Ru", "Lenta.Ru", and also the Union of Journalists of Russia is on the list.
