In Dnipro, the appellate court upheld the verdict against a 77-year-old for child rape
The appellate court upheld the verdict against a 77-year-old resident of Dnipro, who was sentenced to 15 years in prison for serious sexual crimes against minors. This was reported by the prosecutor's office.
During the trial in the court of first instance and in the appeal, the man completely denied his guilt and tried to challenge the decision. However, prosecutors provided convincing evidence that the court recognized as sufficient, proper, and admissible.
On June 6, 2025, the court found the pensioner guilty of raping a 7-year-old girl and committing sexual acts against her 8-year-old friend (Part 4, Article 152; Part 6, Article 153 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The crime occurred in 2023. The man lived together with his grandson's cohabitant and her young daughter. Taking advantage of the mother's absence and the child's helplessness due to her young age, he repeatedly raped the girl. He also committed sexual violence against the victim's 8-year-old friend who had come to visit. The child immediately told her parents about the horrific act, after which they contacted the police.
On June 8, 2026, the appellate court rejected the convicted man's complaint and confirmed the verdict. The man's data has been entered into the Unified Register of Persons Convicted of Crimes Against the Sexual Freedom of Minors.
