A new holiday will appear in Ukraine — what the Verkhovna Rada voted for
The Verkhovna Rada adopted a resolution to establish Ukrainian Music Day, which will be celebrated annually on the third Saturday of September.
Initiative No. 15053 is aimed at honoring the contribution of Ukrainian performers and figures of the music industry to the development of national culture, as well as supporting cultural resistance amid the armed aggression of the Russian Federation.
The parliament noted that the new commemorative date should also contribute to strengthening the Ukrainian cultural space.
The proposed date is connected with the holding of the "Chervona Ruta" festival in 1989, which became a landmark event in the history of Ukrainian culture and modern Ukrainian music.
The proposal to establish Ukrainian Music Day was made to the people's deputies by representatives of the music industry.
