The US will find a way to help Ukraine defend itself against Russia — Pentagon chief Hagset
US Secretary of Defense Pete Hagset stated that Washington intends to continue supporting Ukraine in countering Russian aggression and will seek opportunities to provide the necessary assistance. The Pentagon chief said this during the Asian Security Summit held in Singapore, writes Clash Report.
During a conversation with journalists, Hagset was asked about the letter from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy regarding the shortage of air defense systems amid intensified Russian shelling.
In response, the head of the US defense department emphasized that the US is working on increasing the production of critically important ammunition and weapons to boost supply volumes.
According to him, the United States helps Ukraine where it can and also encourages European allies to take on a larger share of support.
Hagset also positively assessed the increase in aid from European countries. He noted that Europe has significantly stepped up its efforts to support Ukraine, and Ukraine itself demonstrates effective use of the provided resources.
"I am inspired by Europe's commitment to the cause. If you look at the amount of money spent, Europe has stepped up, and Ukraine has been no less, if not more, effective in this process. So we want them to be able to defend themselves, and we will find a way to provide them with assistance," said Hagset.
As is known, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy sent a letter to the US President Donald Trump and the US Congress regarding the critical shortage of air defense systems for Ukraine.
