Traffic Violation Auto-Detection Cameras in Ukraine Issued Over 19 Million Fines Worth 4.1 Billion Hryvnias
There are 376 monitoring devices operating in Ukraine, installed in locations with a high concentration of serious traffic accidents. The cameras function in 32 cities and 18 regions, excluding areas where hostilities are ongoing. The Patrol Police summarized the results of the automatic traffic violation detection system, which has been in operation for 6 years.
As stated by the First Deputy Head of the Patrol Police Department of Ukraine, Oleksiy Biloshytskyi, during 2025, 40 monitoring devices were connected to the auto-detection system. Additionally, 2 complexes in Lviv, which previously only recorded speeding violations, have also started monitoring traffic rule violations and stopping in lanes designated for route transport vehicles.
This year, 37 more devices were added to the system.
Over six years of operation, the police have issued over 19.1 million fines, with the total amount of paid fines exceeding 4.1 billion hryvnias.
The system records, among other things, speeding over 20 km/h, as well as violations of traffic rules and stopping in lanes designated for route transport. The police emphasize that speeding remains one of the main causes of fatal accidents: in 2025, police recorded 10,599 such accidents, resulting in 1,718 deaths and 12,980 people sustaining injuries of varying severity.
It is worth noting that last year, photos and videos of violations were added to the auto-detection fines in the Diia app. Previously, fines were issued only with textual details indicating the violation, time, and location.
You can check for fines on the Ministry of Internal Affairs web portal, the Diia Portal, the Driver's Cabinet, and the Diia and "Traffic Fines" apps. Fines can be paid via card details, ApplePay or GooglePay, as well as payment systems and services legally operating in Ukraine, including Ukrainian banks.
