In a number of Ukrainian cities, tariffs for centralized water supply and sewage services may increase in June. The increase is related to new rules that allow local governments to independently set tariffs for communal services, including water.

Previously, tariffs for large water utilities were approved by the National Commission for State Regulation of Energy and Public Utilities (NERC). Now, the relevant powers have been transferred to local authorities for the duration of martial law and until its completion.

Communal enterprises explain the need to revise tariffs by a significant rise in costs for electricity, fuel, reagents, wages, and network repairs. According to them, current tariffs have long failed to cover the actual cost of services, leading to accumulated debts and a lack of funds for infrastructure modernization.

Specifically, in Dnipro, from June the cost of one cubic meter of water will be 86.83 UAH. In Kryvyi Rih, the tariff is preliminarily planned to be set at 78 UAH per cubic meter.

In Lutsk, the communal enterprise "Lutskvodokanal" has also initiated a tariff revision. The enterprise proposes to increase the cost of services from the current 28 UAH to 73 UAH per cubic meter.

In Uzhhorod, the tariff may exceed 96 UAH per cubic meter, in Ternopil — reach almost 99 UAH, while in Pavlohrad it already amounts to 113 UAH.

In Odesa, the branch "Infoxvodokanal" published a draft of new tariffs for the population. The enterprise proposes to increase the cost of services by almost 2.7 times, explaining this by rising costs of electricity, fuel, wages, and reagents.

At the same time, in Kyiv there have been no announcements about changes in water tariffs so far. "Kyivvodokanal" has not announced a revision of service costs, so current rates will apply for the capital's residents in June:

• water supply — about 16.16 UAH per cubic meter;

• sewage — about 14.22 UAH per cubic meter.
