In Poltava, Russian music, films, and books have been banned: where the new rules will apply
Deputies of the Poltava City Council adopted a decision to ban the use of Russian-language cultural products in the public space of the city. This was reported by the Office of the Commissioner for the Protection of the State Language.
The decision was made to protect the Ukrainian information space from the hybrid influences of the aggressor state, as well as to strengthen national identity, preserve Ukrainian culture, traditions, and historical memory.
The restrictions will apply to public transport, catering establishments, cultural institutions, marketplaces, and other public spaces.
In particular, the decision provides for a ban on the public use of Russian-language books, musical works, films, theatrical performances, concert programs, as well as the holding of cultural and educational events in the Russian language.
Earlier, the Kremenchuk City Council introduced a moratorium on the public use of Russian-language cultural products.
