Many pensioners in Ukraine are entitled to additional pension payments, but not everyone is aware of these opportunities. Some allowances are credited automatically by the Pension Fund without the individual's application, while others require submitting an application and relevant documents.

In particular, age-related supplements are automatically established. After reaching the age of 70, pensioners receive an additional 300 hryvnias. After 75 years, the supplement increases to 456 hryvnias, and after 80 years — to 570 hryvnias. These supplements do not accumulate but replace each other depending on age.

Also, for certain categories of pensioners, a guaranteed minimum pension payment applies. If a non-working pensioner turns 65 years old, has the required insurance record — at least 30 years for women and 35 years for men — and the total pension amount remains below 4213 hryvnias, the Pension Fund must automatically increase the payment to this level.

Who can receive a care allowance

A separate supplement is provided for people who require constant external assistance in daily life. Its amount is 40% of the subsistence minimum for persons who lost their ability to work. Currently, this is 1038 hryvnias per month.

The right to such an allowance belongs to persons with a Group I disability, as well as single pensioners who, due to health reasons, cannot care for themselves. Additionally, pensioners with Group II or III disabilities can receive it after reaching retirement age if there is medical confirmation of the need for external care.

To arrange the payment, one must apply to the Pension Fund. Confirmation of the need for care can be a conclusion from the medical-social expert commission or the medical-consultative commission. The status of a single pensioner must also be confirmed with appropriate documents.

At the same time, legislation does not allow receiving both a pension care supplement and state social assistance for care simultaneously. Therefore, citizens should clarify in advance which type of support is more beneficial.

Supplement for supporting incapacitated relatives

Another type of financial support is provided for pensioners who support incapacitated family members. This includes cases where a pensioner cares for a minor child or an adult relative who cannot work due to health reasons.

For civilian pensioners, the supplement for supporting a child under 18 years old is 150 hryvnias per child.

For military pensioners, the amount of this payment is significantly higher. They can receive a supplement equal to 50% of the subsistence minimum for persons who lost their ability to work. Currently, this is 1297.50 hryvnias per each incapacitated dependent.

Main condition for receiving supplements

Regardless of the type of allowance, one of the key requirements in most cases is the status of a non-working pensioner. If a person is officially employed or registered as an individual entrepreneur, the right to certain types of supplements may be lost. Therefore, before applying for allowances, it is advisable to clarify all conditions for receiving them at the Pension Fund offices.

Other categories

There are several other categories entitled to pension increases. First are Chernobyl victims — liquidators and affected persons have the right to an additional pension for health damage, and families of the deceased receive compensation.

Recall that in March, new, significantly higher pension minimums were established for Chernobyl accident liquidators with disabilities:

  • Group I — 20,653 UAH,
  • Group II — 16,522 UAH,
  • Group III — 12,392 UAH.

Other categories entitled to pension supplements include:

  • War veterans — combatants, war participants, victims of the Revolution of Dignity, as well as families of the deceased. The amount of supplements here depends greatly on status and disability group.
  • Victims of Nazi persecution — former concentration camp prisoners and their spouses.
  • Rehabilitated persons — those who suffered political repression and were rehabilitated, as well as their families who were forcibly resettled.
  • Residents of mountainous settlements — if you permanently live in a settlement with mountain status, the pension increases by 20%.
  • Families of deceased miners — pension supplements due to the loss of a breadwinner as a result of an industrial accident.
