Over 2,200 Units of Weapons and More Than a Million Ammunition – Results of Declaration in Kyiv
A campaign for the voluntary declaration of weapons by civilians is ongoing in Kyiv. Since its inception, residents of the capital have declared over 2,200 units of firearms and more than a million rounds of ammunition. This was reported by the Kyiv police.
Law enforcement officers reminded that the procedure allows citizens who store or have found firearms or ammunition without the appropriate permit to declare them and obtain the right to legal ownership.
The official voluntary declaration of firearms and ammunition started on November 24, 2024. Since then, more than 2,136 city residents have contacted Kyiv police units. During this time, they declared 2,237 units of firearms and over a million rounds of ammunition.
The police noted that after completing the procedure, citizens receive the necessary permits within a few hours, granting them the right to legally store weapons.
To declare, it is necessary to report found or possessed weapons by calling 102 or by contacting the territorial police unit at the place of residence. After that, one must visit the nearest police unit to complete the procedure or use the option of having specialists from the permit service visit the applicant's place of residence.
It is also necessary to prepare a Ukrainian citizen's passport and the taxpayer identification number card.
