The Cabinet of Ministers cancels mandatory verification of some measuring instruments: what will change for business
The Cabinet of Ministers adopted a resolution that deregulates the field of metrology and reduces the list of measuring instruments subject to mandatory periodic verification. The document excludes 10 categories of such instruments from the relevant list and another 9 categories from the annex to the technical regulations. The resolution will come into force six months after publication, according to the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine.
"This decision removes unnecessary regulation where it no longer corresponds to the practice of applying metrological legislation. For business, this means fewer mandatory procedures and clearer rules for working with measuring equipment. At the same time, the state retains control in areas where measurement accuracy is important for people's safety, health protection, and calculations between consumers and suppliers," said Vitaliy Petruk, Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine.
Changes were made to two government documents: the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine Resolution No. 374 "On approval of the list of categories of legally regulated measuring instruments subject to periodic verification" and Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine Resolution No. 94 "On approval of the Technical Regulation of legally regulated measuring instruments."
The resolution concerns instruments used by enterprises, laboratories, manufacturers, suppliers, and other organizations in their work. In particular, it refers to certain means for measuring electrical parameters, noise levels, storage and transportation conditions of food products and medicines, etc.
In addition to reducing the lists, the resolution clarifies the names of 12 categories of measuring equipment and the scope of application of another 11 categories. These changes aim to eliminate inaccuracies identified during the practical application of the list.
The resolution also clarifies category No. 18 "Measurers," combining several existing categories into it. This category will include, in particular, instruments for measuring electrotechnical parameters of electrical installations, voltage and current, insulation resistance, indicators of electricity quality, and leakage current. At the same time, this clarification does not apply to smart electricity meters — a separate category is provided for them.
