The State Migration Service of Ukraine reminded that on May 30, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine Resolution No. 648 dated May 13 came into effect regarding "Issues of Declaration and Registration of Place of Residence (Stay) in Ukraine."

The government has simplified the procedure for registering/deregistering the place of residence of a child under 18 years old when it is impossible to obtain consent (due to captivity or disappearance) from the other parent or legal representatives of such a person.

How was the child's place of residence registered before?

Previously, the rule was that to register or deregister a child's place of residence, the consent of both parents was mandatory.

How will the child's place of residence be registered now?

Consent of the other parent is no longer required to register or deregister a child's place of residence if that parent is classified as "missing" or is in captivity.

In other words, the child will be registered at the address of the parent submitting the application.

The fact of captivity or disappearance is confirmed by one of the following documents:

- An extract from the Unified Register of Persons Missing under Special Circumstances;

- A certificate of a serviceman's captivity issued by the Ministry of Defense, another central executive authority managing military formations established according to laws, a law enforcement agency or a state special-purpose body with law enforcement functions, a commander of a unit of the Armed Forces, another military formation established by law, or an authority within the security and defense sector of Ukraine.
