Pension for the Wife of a Missing Military Serviceman: When and Under What Conditions It Is Granted
A pension due to the loss of a breadwinner may be granted to incapacitated family members of a person who has been given the status of missing under special circumstances. Such persons include, in particular, the wife who is disabled or has reached retirement age and is already receiving a pension.
The appointment and payment of such a pension is carried out in accordance with the Law of Ukraine "On Compulsory State Pension Insurance."
The right to payment arises one month after the information about the person's disappearance is entered into the Unified Register of Persons Missing under Special Circumstances.
The pension is granted for the entire period during which the person retains the status of missing.
At the same time, the law provides that a person entitled to several types of pensions (by age, disability, or due to the loss of a breadwinner) may receive only one of them — at their own choice.
Payments are terminated from the first day of the month following the entry in the register of a note about the establishment of the whereabouts of the missing person.
