Missed the NMT due to shelling or feeling unwell: how not to lose the chance to enroll
Massive Russian attacks, nighttime air raid alarms, lack of sleep, and intense emotional stress increasingly affect applicants' preparation for the National Multisubject Test. In this regard, many applicants and their parents ask whether it is possible to take the NMT on another day if they were unable to take the test on the main date due to the consequences of shelling or deteriorating health. The Committee of the Verkhovna Rada on Education, Science, and Innovations reminded that a mechanism for participation in an additional session is provided for such cases.
This procedure has remained unchanged for four consecutive years — since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, when the National Multisubject Test was introduced for applicants instead of the External Independent Evaluation.
If, due to the consequences of a nighttime shelling, a participant was unable to start the test, complete it, or did not appear at the examination center at all due to a deterioration in physical or psycho-emotional condition, they have the right to take the NMT during the additional session.
Additional NMT session: in which cases it can be used
Two main scenarios are provided.
The first is when the applicant arrived at the examination center but, due to health or psychological condition, cannot continue or complete the testing. In this case, it is necessary to immediately inform the center staff and submit an application to participate in the additional session.
Experts emphasize that simply leaving the testing point without explanation or not informing about the reasons for the inability to continue the exam may create difficulties with further admission to take the NMT.
What to do if you missed the NMT due to shelling or poor health
The second option concerns situations when, after a nighttime shelling, the applicant realizes that they are physically or psychologically unprepared to take the test and therefore does not come to it.
In this case, it is also possible to submit an application to the relevant regional education quality assessment center to participate in the additional session.
At the same time, it is important not to miss the established deadline for applying.
How much time is available to submit an application for the additional NMT session
The application must be submitted within three days, including the day of the test.
Organizers note that many applicants mistakenly believe that the countdown starts the day after the exam. In fact, the day of the NMT is already included in this three-day period.
Is it possible to retake the NMT to improve the result
The additional session is not a retake and does not provide an opportunity to improve an already obtained result.
This mechanism is intended exclusively for those participants who, due to circumstances beyond their control, were unable to take the test during the main session.
Educators emphasize that during the NMT, the priority remains the safety and psychological state of each participant. Applicants are urged to take responsibility for their own health and remember that no test defines a person's value, although it can be an important step on the path to a future profession and education.
