Not all parents know this: what vacations are guaranteed to employees under 18
Minor employees are entitled to an annual leave of 31 calendar days, as well as additional social and educational leaves. This was reminded by the State Labor Service.
In particular, employees under 18 years old are granted annual leave with retention of their job position and salary. It has the following features:
- duration — 31 calendar days;
- granted at a convenient time for the child;
- can be granted in full before the six-month period of continuous work.
Also, minor employees can use unpaid leave:
- for family circumstances and other reasons — no more than 30 calendar days per year (during martial law — without time limits);
- for entrance exams to higher education institutions — lasting 15 calendar days;
- for employees who have left the territory of Ukraine or acquired the status of internally displaced persons — no more than 90 calendar days.
In addition, the legislation provides leave related to education (additional paid leave):
- to complete basic general secondary education — lasting 10 calendar days;
- to obtain complete general secondary education — lasting 23 calendar days;
- for annual assessment — from 4 to 6 calendar days;
- for employees successfully studying in vocational (vocational-technical) education institutions in evening forms — a total duration of 35 calendar days during the academic year.
The State Labor Service also reminded that, if there are grounds, minor employees may be granted other types of leave provided by the legislation of Ukraine.
