Child's body in a box in the wardrobe: after the tragedy in Kyiv region, a suspicion was announced to an official of the children's service
In Brovary, Kyiv region, after the death of a two-year-old boy, suspicion was announced to an official of the children's service. This was reported by the prosecutor's office.
The head of the prevention and child rights protection department of the children's service of the Brovary City Council is accused of official negligence, which, according to the investigation, led to the death of a minor child.
According to the prosecutor's office, the basis for the investigation was the death of a two-year-old boy in Brovary in April of this year. According to the investigation, on the evening of April 23, the child became ill, but the mother did not seek medical help or take measures to save her son. Later, the boy died.
The investigation established that the woman tried to hide the child's death: she placed the body in a box and hid it in a wardrobe. The body was discovered by law enforcement officers after the boy's grandmother reported it. The mother was previously notified of suspicion under Part 3 of Article 135 and Article 166 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. She is currently in custody.
During the further investigation, law enforcement officers found out that two months before the tragedy, information was received by the children's service about the mother's improper fulfillment of parental duties, alcohol abuse, and a possible threat to the life and health of the children.
During the inspection, these facts were confirmed. Specialists established that the family is in difficult life circumstances and requires social support.
According to the investigation, the official responsible for organizing work on child rights protection did not ensure the urgent measures for the safety of minors, did not initiate the issue of removing them from a dangerous environment, and did not ensure proper response to the identified risks.
As a result, the children continued to live in conditions that posed a threat to their life and health.
"This case is not only about the responsibility of the mother who left her own child to die without help, but also about the responsibility of officials who are obliged to respond to danger signals. If the state knows that a child is under threat, all legally provided protection mechanisms must be activated immediately," said the head of the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor's Office, Dmitro Prokudin.
Recall that a 38-year-old woman in Brovary did not provide assistance to her 2-year-old son, and after his death hid the body in the wardrobe.
