The Verkhovna Rada adopted Resolution 15297 on parliamentary support for the negotiation process regarding Ukraine's accession to the European Union.

259 members of parliament voted in favor.

The resolution stipulates that the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, together with the committees of the Verkhovna Rada, will ensure coordinated drafting of bills necessary for adapting Ukrainian legislation to the law of the European Union and fulfilling Ukraine's international legal obligations in the field of European integration. The document also proposes introducing information sharing with the leadership of the Verkhovna Rada and the Office of the Verkhovna Rada about the results of consultations with EU institutions regarding the preparation of relevant legislative initiatives.

Furthermore, the draft defines the procedure for informing parliament in cases of consultations with European Union institutions regarding bills already under consideration by the Verkhovna Rada. In particular, the Government must inform the leadership of the Verkhovna Rada, the leadership of its Office, the relevant committee responsible for preparing the bill, as well as the committee responsible for assessing the compliance of legislative initiatives with Ukraine's international legal obligations in the field of European integration, about the results of such consultations.

In the event of consultations regarding the draft bill prepared for the second reading, the Cabinet of Ministers must involve the main parliamentary committee overseeing the respective bill in this process.

The document also provides that after the adoption of the Resolution, the Government will report quarterly to the Verkhovna Rada on the status of implementing the National Program for adapting Ukrainian legislation to EU law. In addition, the Cabinet of Ministers must coordinate draft amendments to this program with the authorized representative of the Verkhovna Rada.

The resolution establishes the obligation of the Government to inform parliament quarterly about the progress of the negotiation process regarding Ukraine's accession to the European Union and to provide relevant information during coordination meetings with the leadership of the Verkhovna Rada and members of the Coordination Council of parliamentary factions and groups.
