Electronic Prescriptions for Medical Cannabis Issued for the First Time in Ukraine
At the Vinnytsia Regional Clinical Psychoneurological Hospital named after Acad. O. I. Yushchenko, neurologists have for the first time issued and redeemed electronic prescriptions for medicinal products containing medical cannabis.
As noted by the director of the institution, Sofiya Kucheruk, the prescribed cannabidiol is an evidence-based drug included in international and domestic treatment protocols. She emphasized that these medicines have been used in global practice for a long time and are completely safe, as they do not cause dependence, euphoria, or intoxication, writes "Ukrinform".
The drug has a powerful anti-inflammatory and analgesic effect, which allows effective reduction of chronic and muscle pain.
In addition to pain relief, medical cannabis is used to reduce anxiety levels, overcome stress, and also for severe forms of epilepsy, including in children.
"The first patients who received prescriptions have a long medical history and previously underwent various treatment courses that did not bring the desired result. Now legalized medicines are officially available in Ukrainian pharmacies, including those in Vinnytsia," the publication added.
