Ukraine plans to strengthen administrative and criminal liability for violations in the field of waste management. The relevant bills were approved by the government on June 10.

The bills of Ukraine concern:

- "On Amendments to the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses to Improve Liability for Violations in the Field of Waste Management",

- "On Amendments to the Criminal Code of Ukraine to Improve Liability for Committing Criminal Offenses Against the Environment and in the Field of Waste Management."

The Ministry of Economy notes that the decision is an important step towards forming a transparent and responsible waste management system. This will promote compliance with established rules by all market participants, increase the effectiveness of state control, and prevent violations in the field of waste management.

The documents were prepared in accordance with the Law of Ukraine "On Waste Management" and are aimed at improving mechanisms of liability for non-compliance with legislation requirements in this area.

The implementation of the bills will contribute to more effective waste management, reducing their negative impact on the environment and human health, as well as further aligning legislation with European standards.
