In Kyiv, perpetrators who posed as magicians and extorted money from people through psychological pressure will face trial. This was reported by the city police.

Law enforcement reminded that in March, the activities of a criminal group were stopped, which, disguising their services as esotericism and fortune-telling, swindled money. The cynicism of the suspects' actions lay in constant psychological pressure even on the relatives of fallen Ukrainian soldiers.

“The scheme involved family clans of the organizer of the 'business' — a 50-year-old resident of Cherkasy region,” the police said.

During operational actions, cyber police established that communication with victims was conducted through thematic websites created by the scammers, phone calls, and messengers. Posing as psychics and magicians, the suspects constantly manipulated the victims. They intimidated 'clients' with curses to keep them hooked and force them to pay for additional 'services' at ever-increasing prices.

Police investigators have completed the pre-trial investigation against four suspects. Currently, the indictment along with the criminal case materials has been sent to court. The perpetrators face up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.
