AK-74, pistols, and grenades: two illegal arms trafficking schemes uncovered in Ukraine
DBR officers uncovered two schemes of illegal trafficking of weapons and ammunition in Khmelnytskyi and Vinnytsia regions.
The suspects were detained and notified of suspicion under Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal handling of weapons and ammunition).
In Khmelnytskyi, law enforcement detained a former law enforcement officer from Donetsk region who, according to the investigation, organized the illegal sale of firearms through acquaintances. He was caught while attempting to sell a Kalashnikov assault rifle with ammunition for 4,500 US dollars.
During searches of a garage and a car, another AK-74 assault rifle, an unregistered pistol, magazines, and nearly a hundred rounds of various calibers were found.
In Vinnytsia region, a serviceman was exposed who, according to the investigation, sold ammunition through social networks. Among the offers were grenades as well as discounts for purchasing large batches. He sent the ammunition to buyers by mail to various regions of Ukraine.
