At least 30 thousand UAH in the rear and 300 thousand UAH at the front: military payments will be increased already in June
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced an increase in payments to servicemen, new contracts for infantrymen, and additional financial incentives for combat commanders. According to him, the Cabinet of Ministers is to introduce the first new payments already in June.
According to the Head of State, decisions aimed at strengthening the financial stability of defense and further transformation of the Ukrainian army have been agreed upon.
He emphasized that the state has the resources to increase the monetary allowance for servicemen.
"At least 30 thousand hryvnias in the rear. The more combat missions, the higher the level of payments," the President said.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy also announced new contracts for infantrymen with significantly better financial conditions. According to him, servicemen on the front line will receive an average of 300 thousand hryvnias.
"Everything rests on the Ukrainian infantry, on our Ukrainian infantry," the Head of State emphasized.
New contracts and deferments for servicemen
The President stated that new contracts for servicemen will provide clearly defined service terms — 10, 14, or 24 months.
The contracts will also specify concrete conditions regarding deferments.
"Contracts will be worked out so that there is clarity: contract duration — 10 months, 14, 24, and specific conditions, i.e., clear deferments. Guaranteed terms and real deferments," Volodymyr Zelensky said.
Payments for combat commanders will be increased
The President separately announced an increase in payments for Ukrainian combat commanders.
According to him, this should become an additional incentive to retain experienced leaders in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The specific mechanism for implementing these decisions is to be approved by the Cabinet of Ministers. According to the Head of State, the government should start the first new payments already in June.
Ukraine will expand the involvement of foreign volunteers
Volodymyr Zelensky also thanked volunteers from other countries who participate in the defense of Ukraine.
The President said he instructed to expand opportunities for involving foreign volunteers in the Ukrainian army and to create additional recruitment mechanisms.
Simplification of transfers and career growth in the army
Among other decisions, the Head of State mentioned further simplification of transfers for servicemen, expanding opportunities for professional growth in the army, and creating additional incentives to join the Defense Forces.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed hope that all the changes currently being implemented will demonstrate their effectiveness already during the summer.
The detailed mechanisms for implementing the announced decisions are to be presented by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
