Fare in Ternopil Will Increase: New Tariffs Approved for Buses and Trolleybuses
Starting June 13, new tariffs for public transport fares will come into effect in Ternopil. The relevant decision was made by the executive committee of the Ternopil City Council, the city council reported.
According to the decision, the fare will be the same for municipal and private transport and will be:
- 19 UAH – when paying with the electronic ticket "Social Card of a Ternopil Resident";
- 23 UAH – when using a non-personalized electronic ticket;
- 26 UAH – when paying by bank card or a device with NFC technology.
The city council explained that the tariff change is associated with increased costs for electricity, fuel and lubricants, spare parts and components, as well as with the rise in state social standards and the minimum wage.
According to the city council, the new calculations were prepared taking into account the conclusions of specialists from the transport networks and communications department, the results of an independent audit, and public discussions. The economically justified cost of one trip is calculated to be 26.7 UAH for a bus and 31.6 UAH for a trolleybus.
It is separately noted that pupils and students of the Ternopil community will continue to enjoy free rides on trolleybuses and municipal buses if they have the "Social Card of a Ternopil Resident" categorized as "Pupil" or "Student." They are also entitled to a 50% discount on private transport. Free rides are preserved for 29 privileged categories of the population, including pensioners, persons with disabilities, and combatants.
The city council added that Ternopil continues to use the "Unified Ticket" system, which allows unlimited transfers within 30 minutes between all types of public transport.
During public discussions, according to the city council, some residents' proposals were taken into account. In particular, the tariff for users of the "Social Card of a Ternopil Resident" was reduced from the initially proposed 20 UAH to 19 UAH.
