President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has arranged a personal meeting with the President of the United States Donald Trump in the coming days in Europe. The Head of State announced this after a phone conversation with the American leader.
According to Zelenskyy, during the conversation the parties discussed Russia's war against Ukraine, its causes, diplomatic opportunities to achieve peace, and the positions of international partners.
“We agreed on our meeting: in the coming days in Europe there will be G7 formats, of course, Ukraine and our defense, our possibilities to reach peace will be among the main topics,” said the President of Ukraine.
Zelenskyy also reported that he congratulated Trump on his birthday and the American Army Day. According to him, the conversation was long and very detailed.
The President emphasized that Ukraine counts on further cooperation with the United States and other partners to achieve a just peace. He also thanked the US for the assistance provided.
In addition, the Head of State drew attention to Trump's words regarding Crimea. According to Zelenskyy, the US president noted that the war began with Russia's seizure of Crimea, and with strong international leadership at that time, further escalation of the conflict could have been avoided.
It is expected that the topic of Ukraine will become one of the key issues during the upcoming international meetings in the G7 format.
