In Odesa region, law enforcement officers will be tried for promising not to take men to the military enlistment center for $2000
In Odesa region, law enforcement officers have completed the pre-trial investigation and sent an indictment to court regarding two officers who profited from men subject to mobilization. This was reported by the State Bureau of Investigation.
The investigation established that during patrols in Odesa, the suspects stopped vehicles and checked drivers' documents. If a man was subject to mobilization, the officers offered him to avoid being taken to one of the territorial recruitment and social support centers for money.
The amount depended on the driver's ability to pay and started from 2,000 US dollars.
In February 2026, the State Bureau of Investigation officers together with the Security Service of Ukraine detained the law enforcement officers after receiving another part of the payment from one of the drivers.
Both have now been dismissed from law enforcement agencies. They are accused of receiving a bribe by an official (Part 3, Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). They face up to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property.
