Zelenskyy asked NATO to help Ukraine obtain licenses to produce Patriot
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy called on NATO member states to support granting Ukraine licenses to produce Patriot air defense systems. According to him, the current production capacities of these complexes are insufficient to respond to all existing and potential threats worldwide. The head of state made this statement during an address to participants of the Ukraine-NATO Council meeting in Kyiv.
“We raised this issue with the previous US administration and continue to discuss it with the current one, namely: granting Ukraine licenses to produce such systems – Patriot systems. And this is not only about Ukraine – it is for all Europeans who have such capabilities to start mass production. The current Patriot production capacities are simply insufficient to meet all existing and potential threats worldwide,” Zelenskyy said.
The President emphasized that Ukraine has already proven its ability to quickly scale up the production of modern weapons, including drones, and effectively implement new technologies in the defense sector.
“So I ask for your support at the political level to help achieve positive decisions regarding these licenses,” the President urged.
