Investigation launched into the traffic accident on Chokolivskyi Boulevard in Kyiv – among the deceased is a 12-year-old boy
A pre-trial investigation has been launched in Kyiv regarding the fatal traffic accident on Chokolivskyi Boulevard, which resulted in the deaths of four people, including a 12-year-old boy.
According to the Office of the Prosecutor General, a 49-year-old driver of a Mercedes-Benz, a resident of Kherson region, was driving at high speed, lost control, and crashed into an underground pedestrian crossing where people were present.
As a result of the accident, two men, a woman, and a 12-year-old boy died at the scene. Three other people sustained injuries of varying severity.
Rescuers extracted the driver from the wrecked vehicle. He is currently hospitalized.
It was preliminarily established that the man had been repeatedly held administratively liable for speeding. He was also involved in four traffic accidents, two of which occurred this year.
A pre-trial investigation has been launched under Part 3 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — violation of traffic safety rules that caused the death of several people.
