In Kyiv, law enforcement officers detained a 49-year-old Mercedes driver in procedural order, who caused a fatal accident on June 5 on Chokolivskyi Boulevard. The man is currently under escort. This was reported by the police.

Following the accident, investigators of the Kyiv police, under the procedural guidance of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office, opened a criminal case under Part 3 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — violation of traffic safety rules or operation of transport, which caused the death of several people.

The issue of notifying the detainee of suspicion is currently being resolved.

Recall that the 49-year-old Mercedes-Benz driver, a resident of Kherson region, was driving at high speed, lost control, and crashed into an underground passage where people were present.

As a result of the collision, a 12-year-old boy, a 47-year-old woman, and two police officers aged 21 and 23 died. Two men and a woman were also injured and are currently hospitalized.
