In the USA, a priest who served as an exorcist for the Archdiocese of Washington for nearly two decades was removed from his position following his public statements about the nature of UFOs. This was reported by The Washington Post.

Monsignor Stephen Rossetti, a Catholic priest and psychologist, stated during a YouTube broadcast that a significant portion of UFO sightings may be connected to demonic activity.

In a program titled "Aliens or Demons?" Rossetti expressed the belief that demons can manifest in the physical world in various forms and conceal their true nature. In his opinion, many reports of unidentified flying objects may have a supernatural origin.

Following these controversial statements, the Archbishop of Washington, Cardinal Robert McElroy, decided to dismiss Rossetti from the position of archdiocesan exorcist. He emphasized that such claims contradict the official position of the Catholic Church regarding demonology and the practice of exorcism.

Stephen Rossetti is well known in church circles. For many years, he headed the Saint Luke Institute in Maryland, where he dealt with mental health issues of clergy members, including those accused of sexual offenses.

Currently, the priest leads the Saint Michael Center for Spiritual Renewal, which works with charismatic Catholics. The center defines exorcism as a special church rite aimed at protecting people from the influence of evil.

Rossetti stated that he regrets the situation, apologized for his statements, and announced that the center's activities will continue at a different location.
