I confirmed the fact of contacting diplomats regarding Fire Point, — V. Shabunin
Anti-corruption activist Vitaliy Shabunin confirmed that the CPC addressed diplomatic institutions with letters mentioning the company Fire Point. He stated this during the meeting of the Temporary Investigative Commission of the Verkhovna Rada, which investigates violations of rights, abuses, and corruption by employees of the TCC and SP, as well as investigates theft and fraud in the defense sector.
Shabunin explained that the CPC described problems and questions to the authorities that they had in letters to donors who allocate funds for maintaining this public organization. He added that the largest donors during the existence of the CPC were the USA, the European Commission, and EU countries. Among private major donors, the CPC was funded by businessman George Soros's foundation. According to him, after Donald Trump was elected President of the USA, the CPC "refused" American funds, which accounted for about 40% of the organization's budget.
"Did we describe Fire Point as one of the issues to the authorities regarding arms procurement, in the manner I explained to you? Of course, we did. We did this publicly, like friends, look, dear authorities, let's figure this out somehow," Shabunin noted in response to a question from a member of the TSC, MP Kyra Rudyk, about whether the CPC had contacted diplomatic institutions on issues concerning Fire Point.
He noted that the CPC did not provide embassies with the company's design documentation and did not ask diplomatic institutions not to sell parts to the Ukrainian manufacturer of drones and missiles.
Earlier, the co-founder of the Ukrainian company Fire Point, which manufactures "Flamingo" missiles, accused the CPC of passing their secret design documentation in letters to foreign embassies. According to Shtillerman, this led to delays in international contracts.
