In Kyiv, a driver with covered license plates fled from the police: during the arrest, an attack on patrol officers occurred
In the Desnianskyi district of Kyiv, a conflict occurred involving patrol police officers, a Nissan car driver, and a group of people who interfered with the arrest of the offender. The patrol police stated that the incident was not related to the activities of the territorial recruitment and social support centers, although after the arrest the man was taken to the Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Center due to a detected violation of mobilization legislation.
According to law enforcement, during patrol, inspectors noticed a Nissan car with covered license plates, which made identification impossible. Additionally, the driver violated traffic rules.
When police officers demanded to stop, the man did not respond and tried to flee. According to the police, he drove onto the sidewalk and continued moving, creating danger for pedestrians and other road users.
To stop the violation, the patrol officers called for backup and blocked the vehicle. After that, the driver was detained using handcuffs in accordance with the requirements of the Law of Ukraine "On the National Police."
While processing the materials, a group of people approached the scene who, according to law enforcement, began to obstruct the lawful actions of the police officers. The police claim that tear gas was used against the inspectors and a service vehicle was damaged.
In response, the patrol officers used physical force and special means equipped with tear and irritant substances to repel the group attack. An investigative-operational group was called to the scene.
The driver was issued a fine under Part 1 of Article 121-3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (violation of requirements regarding the use of license plates) and a protocol was drawn up under Article 122-2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (failure to comply with a lawful police order to stop). A detention protocol was also prepared.
Investigators opened a criminal case under Article 345 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — threat or violence against a law enforcement officer.
Additionally, during the verification of the detainee's data, law enforcement established that he is listed as a person violating mobilization legislation. After completing the initial procedural actions, the man was taken to the district territorial recruitment and social support center.
The Kyiv patrol police emphasized that the primary cause of the incident was the traffic violation and the driver's attempt to flee from law enforcement, not mobilization measures. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
