Men posing as police officers in a decommissioned patrol car detained in Germany
The police of the federal state of Thuringia in eastern Germany reported the detention of two men who posed as police officers while driving a decommissioned patrol car. This was reported by DW.
According to the police, the incident occurred on Saturday in the Greiz district, in the village of Langenwetzendorf. Witnesses noticed a police car with two men in uniform inside, which raised suspicion.
Law enforcement noted that the vehicle had all the external signs of an official vehicle — including identification marks and blue flashing lights — although it had already been decommissioned.
The detainees were dressed in old samples of the Saxony state police uniform. During the inspection, handcuffs and imitation firearms were found on them.
After the detention, the men were ordered to remove their uniforms. A criminal case was opened against them for illegally impersonating public officials and violating weapons legislation.
The police also reported that the decommissioned service vehicle, which broke down at some point, was towed away.
