Hungarian Parliament Deputies Unanimously Reduced Their Salaries
The National Assembly of Hungary adopted the bill submitted by "Tisza" on reducing deputies' salaries and state support for political parties. The document was supported by 189 deputies, with no votes "against" or "abstained," writes Telex.
After the elections, Prime Minister Péter Magyar stated that "waste of state funds will be stopped," and support for deputies and factions will be significantly reduced by amending the Parliamentary Act.
Under current rules, the salary of members of parliament is three times the national average. After the new law comes into effect, it will be 1.8 times the average — instead of 2,182,488 forints (approximately 5,300 dollars), deputies will receive 1,309,493 forints (about 3,200 dollars). The amounts are stated before taxes.
It is noted that over the past five years, the salaries of Ukrainian people's deputies have increased by approximately 8-9 thousand hryvnias due to annual indexation.
