UK Defence Secretary John Healey Resigns and States Reason
UK Defence Secretary John Healey has resigned, accusing Prime Minister Keir Starmer's government of failing to provide the funding necessary to respond to growing security threats.
In his resignation letter, Healey stated that a government review identified the need for significantly higher defense spending, but the Treasury refused to commit to allocating the required resources.
Starmer has not yet commented on Healey's statement.
According to Reuters, discussions between the Defence and Treasury departments over increasing military expenditure have been ongoing for several months.
