Today, June 14, U.S. President Donald Trump celebrates his 80th birthday. He is now officially the oldest sitting president in the history of the United States.

At his inauguration for the second presidential term, Trump was 78 years and 7 months old, making him the oldest person ever to assume the office of U.S. president.

At the same time, the absolute record for age at the time of leaving the presidency still belongs to Joe Biden. He left the White House at the age of 82.

The U.S. Constitution sets only a minimum age for presidential eligibility — 35 years. There is no upper age limit for candidates for this office in the law.

If Donald Trump serves his presidential term until its completion in January 2029, he will be 83 years old. In that case, he will surpass Joe Biden's record and become the oldest U.S. president at the time of leaving office.

Currently, the oldest living U.S. president, among both current and former heads of state, remains Joe Biden.
